A new beginning.

It has now been several years since I first started this blog and it has since grown stale as my life as I knew it began to change.
It began as a way for me to deal with my chronic pain and focus on the positive aspects of the living world. A reminder that life can be good despite limitations.

I am going to continue to carry this blog on in the same manner, but I thought I should highlight some of the changes that have occurred in the past 5-ishis years as the content of my posts and my life has greatly changed.

About 5 years ago I had many chronic health problems that resulted in me walking with a cane. I had peripheral neuropathy, digestive problems, and chronic inflammation with no causation found.  I was very discouraged with my pain and my condition and at only 20 years old, grieved the loss of my body. I said goodbye to thinking I would ever surf, ski, or do many of the other active things that I loved to do in life. So instead of giving up, I shifted focus, regrouped myself and made it a priority to rediscover what makes me happy.
And what did I find to be the answer time and time again?
The ltitle things.  And thus, this blog was born. A blog about the little things that make Vancouver Island a wonderful place to live.
So this blog will continue to be about the little things.
But the story doesn't end there.
Actually, it's just the beginning.
You see, in December 2013, we became pregnant. I wasn't sure how I was going to manage but I was determined.
About four months into pregnancy, something magical began to happen. My numbness and prickly legs began to subside, and then the nerve pain began to lessen. I no longer needed my cane.
As if a miracle, by the time I was 7 months pregnant, I was in better physical condition than I had been in since age 14. I ran. For the first time in years. It felt so good. I climbed. I used my hands and feet and ran barefoot all the way to Ammonite Falls.
I have seen multiple doctors who don't really have an explanation for me othe than theories, (which drives my inner scientist crazy) but for now, I'll just be happy for my current physical health. I have learned that part of my problem was allergies, and I am still on my path to good health. Both physically and mentally.
I now have a 4 and a half year old who I call Mayhem, (let's just say she suits her name perfectly) and a 14 month old that goes by Wilder. Let me just tell you that life does not get easier. It just changes.
Wilder was born with a genetic condition that they call Epidermylosis Bullosa (EB for short. Don't Google it unless you have a strong stomach.)
Much of my time as a new mom of two has been scouring medical papers and research  long into the night since the day he was born. Just trying to make sense of a rare condition that so little is known about. We are noticing allergies is a trigger for him too, which is very curious. With all this going on, life still goes on and we make the best of every day.

So now that I've explained a little about my background,  and the shift of priorities, I hope it explains the shift in my writing style, and the topics I cover throughout.

Now this is where the story begins.
The fun stuff.
The westcoast "momming it" stuff.
Adding Littles to our adventure has just made the world new again. Every place we have gone has new wonder. New adventure. Just waiting to be discovered.

In this blog I will now be covering all aspects of my life, and not just landmarks and destinations.
The messy crafts. The nature walks. Balancing work and play. Allergy-free baking, outings with kids and more. Real Life and challenges of being a parent on BC's westcoast.
